These scales were used to increase our understanding of youth in areas such as their self-esteem and self-eficacy beliefs, quality of relationships with peers and adults, and aspirations and expectations for the future. At the end of the year (June), we conducted a brief concluding interview with each youth.

Our analytical framework for understanding Midwest and the other centers has three parts: organizational goals, range and quality of program development and implementation, and human resource development. As we utilize this framework in all three organizational case studies, let us spend a bit of time elaborating it now. Analytical Framework Goals Any organization needs to be considered in relation to its goals. In the business world, it is often easy to specify and measure goals.
